So who's idea was this anyway?

You all know what I'm talking about. Who's idea was it that somehow "fictitious" beings are responsible for delivering candy, hiding eggs, coming down chimneys, delivering presents, taking teeth and yes even turning milk green! I know it can't be Hallmark, because this stuff has been going on alot longer then they've been around. Somewhere back in time, I bet someone thought it would be cute to make up such lies, and people took it and ran. Maybe there wasn't a lot to believe in years ago, and this was a way for society to bring their kids joy and fantasy. Maybe a candy maker decided to surprise everyone in his town with treats on Easter morning and the idea took off. Maybe it was actually the dentist who needed to drum up more business for himself (sorry dad and Denise). Or the clothing stores who thought they could sell more clothes if everyone ate more candy. Or the farmers who had a surplus of eggs so they decorated them to make them more appealing. I mean how does this tie in to the death of Jesus. Bunny...eggs...candy...rising from the dead. Am I the only one missing something here?

Don't misunderstand, we had a great time shopping for goodies and we'll have more fun hiding eggs and baskets (one year we hid Allison's on a string hanging from the ceiling!) and love seeing the kids faces, but why can't we get credit for the "fun" before they are 10 years old? And bottom line, what does this have to do with Jesus. Please enlighten me...

It's all about the smiles you create each and every time you think up someplace new to hide that basket...
