What a day!! Ashley and Katelyn woke up so happy, watched some TV, got ready, went to gymnastics, had lunch, bath, put on new outfits and then "Party time!" A My Little Pony party that is.
They just seemed so grown up. Greeting each guest at the door, not hiding behind mom or dad's legs. Passing out party hats, telling the events of the party, showing everyone where to go. And the jumping and the screaming!
Three party games that went waaaaaaay to fast. But they enjoyed all of them. First off was the wrangler hunt for all the hidden ponies in the basement. 23 all accounted for, next up, the Pass the Pony game (hot potato but with a horse). Each child that was out received a pony tattoo on their hand. The winner of the game received 2! Still so easy to please. Then off to the pin the rainbow on the pony game. Pretty impressive, all but one child agreed to having their eyes covered with the bandanna.
After presents it was upstairs for cake and ice cream, store bought this year. I was very disappointed about not making it myself, but sometimes it is better to recognize the time limitations and keep the sanity. Maybe for Melissa's in 2 weeks. Then back to the basement for coloring and playing with toys. All in all a great 2 hours.
Dinner was at Johnny Rockets where the wait staff periodically dances and sings for you. Burgers, fries, shakes, onion rings (yeah I don't think this is the food Darrin was referring to in his last blog), and a special ice cream sundae for the twins. Our waiter announced to the entire restaurant the birthday and invited everyone to sing, which they did and Ashley promptly hid behind my arm, Katelyn just smiled very big. Oh I forgot to mention we dined next to Debbie Stabenow and her husband. Then it was time to come home, twins are watching a movie and going to bed very soon where I'm sure they will sleep very well...as will I.

So happy to read about their great birthday. Also sad to know they are growing up so fast. Love.
