Tis time for a change

Well it's almost here, the inevitable, the dreaded, 5:30 am, dressing 4 youngins, dropping at daycare, lunches, pick up, after school activities and yes ...WORK!

Yeah, I know I will get no sympathy from most of you, but remember this is MY BLOG and I feel like whining! Not to mention, I chose a career where these are the benefits so you can't hold it against me. Now don't get me wrong, I will be happy when the kids go to school, heaven knows they need the separation, I would just like the opportunity to have them go and me stay home!

The girls helped me (take that VERY loosely) set up my office on Wed and then again today. Come on how much can I really get done with 4 kids running around a room that is 10 x 12. This year I will be in one building, but realized after my boxes were delivered that I'd have to cram all of my belongings into one room instead of two...donned the interior designer hat for that one! It should work out ok.

I also went through the closet yesterday and took out all the "frump". You know the things you've been wearing to work since you started in 1994!!! They are still in good shape and you just hate to get rid of them, come on you know the clothes I'm talking about...No more, I'm turning over a new leaf and I solemnly swear NOT to wear clothes that have apples, buses, math problems, or schools on them anymore. I have abandoned all my connection to the ever-popular jumper that goes with any color turtleneck. Gone are the items that are just a little tight, gone are the ones that needed taking in (and yes my machine is working just fine). I let Melissa be my judge, and anything that got the 'raised eye-brow' saw the bag. The shoes that we wore once 5 years ago, gone, the white satin wedding shoes (13 years this past June) that I was holding onto to dye another color someday...gone. And the hangers, I think that took up two feet of space alone. All gone!!! Quite liberating, I highly suggest it, but the secret is NOT to think about it, just do it.

Backpacks are ready, we go on Monday to try Allison's locker. You'd think it is made of gold and she is the first one to ever use one. Up until this time, they have only had coat racks. She has a multitude of magnets for hanging items. What you ask? We asked the same thing and still don't know. Let's all take a trip back to 5th grade and picture what we might have hung up in our lockers..................................................................nope, too long ago, I got nothin. Let me know if you have any ideas. Come on they are 10!!!

Well for me the "test run" begins next week as I start back to work on Tue, Wed and Thur. Kids don't go until the next week, but the alarm will be going off none the less and I'll have to try on the speech-pathologist hat. It's gotten a little rusty as I haven't quite done much with the box I brought home at the beginning of the summer. I always have the best of intentions (Hey, that's a country song, Travis Tritt, I think).

It's been a good summer.

I commend you on the closet clean out... one of my favorite things in the world to do and as you said it, just do it and don't look back.

As for the locker, that would be for the Shawn Cassidy/Parker Stevenson pictures and oh yes, the summer photo's of you and your BFF...remember

I love your blog, so true are your words, I feel like I'm there with you...
